Welcome to the fifteenth edition of my FREE monthly Newsletter on Weightlifting.
Hello again! My apologies for the lag in publication. These past 9 months I’ve experienced a pile of changes. For many, many years as a coach I find myself reiterating the importance of our relationships and how vital this “connectedness” is to our health and vitality. Today more so than ever, our connections with one another are the strength that pull us through life’s tumultuous transitions.
Please enjoy my ramblings related to health, info from my library and a topic on Weightlifting.
COVID-19, still in the News
health - /helTH/
noun
the state of being free from illness or injury.
I hope my newsletter reaches you and your loved ones in good health. There’s been a recent uptick but overall trends are still downward.
At this time, 221 million Americans are fully vaccinated, almost 70% of our population and 13.3 billion doses worldwide or about 70%.
Enjoying & Loving
Why is it that with great loss we usually experience an almost clairvoyant simplification and alignment of priorities?
…and, I guess after 50+ years experience on earth, the meaning of life is crystal clear.
So, here it is -
We’re here to explore, enjoy our experiences and love one another. Find your passion, yes and share it. Ultimately our vocation (passion) provides a service for our fellow brothers and sisters.
Snatch & Clean Start Position
Application of vertical force is the name of the game in Weightlifting. When we start off the floor our body levers need to be loaded and in a flexed position prepared to extend.
Kinda similar to a scissor-lift.
The Ankles, Knees and Hips of the weightlifter act like the pivot points of the scissor-lift elevating the athlete and barbell vertically. If we open only, or predominately the Hip joint and not use Ankles and Knees, the barbell will move forward as it rises from the platform.
Remain grounded and push your feet through the floor.
Technical Video Tutorials on Weightlifting
I’m often asked for technical advice for improving an athletes movement patterns of the Clean and Snatch lifts. Over the past few years I’ve accumulated some teaching videos to help illustrate efficient technique and offer exercise suggestions you can practice.
Have a look and check back regularly as I’ll continue updating the playlist with additional videos and technical explanations.
