Welcome to the seventeenth edition of my FREE monthly Newsletter on Weightlifting.
Welcome Spring (or Summer) Fever!
A quick visit to Houston last month reminded me how much I miss those weekly rides out in the Texas countryside with friends.
Please enjoy my ramblings related to health, info from my library and a topic on Weightlifting.

Champions aren't born, they're made from the actions they take, the work they put in, and the focus they have for what matters most.
Leg Asymmetry
We all have a dominate side - left or right. Maintaining the balance between our two legs for all athletes is vital for building resilient, healthy and stronger individuals. Especially in our sport of Weightlifting where we’re predominately bipedal (using both legs simultaneously) an uneven rise from the deep squat position can be a receipt for injury.
When training each leg individually take care to insure hips remain relatively parallel to the ground. If athletes can not maintain a level pelvis, possibly indicate Glute Medius/Adductor weaknesses.
I’m sure you’ve all seen this incredible more than 3x bodyweight Clean & Jerk, but have you seen this lift from the front view? Did you notice how far left and right his hips move as he rises from the Clean - wow?! Now imagine the quantity of repetitions he practiced in his lifetime and consider how these imbalances can lead to overuse injuries.
Technical Video Tutorials on Weightlifting
I’m often asked for technical advice for improving an athletes movement patterns of the Clean and Snatch lifts. Over the past few years I’ve accumulated some teaching videos to help illustrate efficient technique and offer exercise suggestions you can practice.
Have a look and check back regularly as I’ll continue updating the playlist with additional videos and technical explanations.
